Artist Statement

I believe in channeling my creative urges to produce unique artwork in Mississippi. I am a hippy, wild child, and a storyteller. My life and my heart are full. Every day is a new adventure. Life is about writing your own rules and swinging from the chandelier. My inspiration for my work is the miracle of life. Art makes everything in life better, and the emotion drawn out of people when they stop and look at one of my pieces drives my process. Hip Hap Art was born out of a combination of my education, training, and experience, which allows my perspective as an artist to remain traditional yet contemporary. I paint in my head, creating shape on canvas, paper, fabric, glass, and anything else I can get my hands on. Imagination is my brush; color is my medium. Art is how I battle against the indifference of humans and offer new ways of viewing the world.
