Baxter Knowlton grew up in Oxford and Jackson, MS. He studied art and English at Yale University, graduating in 1996. Since moving to Little Rock, AR in 2002, he has been privileged to paint commissioned portraits of all kinds of people (and animals) -- the famous, the infamous, and the not so famous. He shows work at Fischer Galleries in Jackson and Gallery 26 in Little Rock. The Arkansas Arts Council awarded him a Fellowship Grant in 2007. That same year, he had a show at the Historic Arkansas Museum. The Oxford Conference for the Book used his portraits of southern writers for their 2004, 2005, and 2006 posters. He now lives near Central High School in Little Rock.
